Google under investigation by the FTC after redemption of AdMob

The acquisition of AdMob by Google in November 2009 for 750 million dollars goes wrong with U.S. authorities. According to the American press, the powerful FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has every intention of verifying whether Mountain View will not benefit from a dominant position in the market for online advertising, especially mobile.
The FTC would then intend to ask the actors, some of Google’s competitors, their opinion on the risk monopoly that buying AdMob would run on a booming market thanks to the democratization of mobile Internet. At the end of its investigation, the Commission may bring a lawsuit to cancel the transaction.
AdMob is governed specializes in advertising for mobile phones. The technology developed allows to dynamically adjusting the sizes of ads to content in the form like the fund. AdMob already has a network of 15 000 sites for mobile devices.
Google’s strategy on the market for online advertising had already attracted the European Commission following the acquisition of Double Click in 2007. After investigation, Brussels had finally given the green light in March 2008.
